Connecting a Core to the QorePortal
If you are running a Rapid Recovery Core older than release 6.2, before connecting to the portal, you must first download the Rapid Recovery Portal Plug-in as described in this topic, and install it on the Core server. The plug-in is not required for newer Cores.
The QorePortal plug-in requires Microsoft .NET 4.5 or later installed to the Rapid Recovery Core. The plug-in also requires your Rapid Recovery Core to have the latest cumulative patch for that release installed, if applicable.
If these prerequisites are already installed, then after plug-in installation, neither the Core server nor the Core service require restart. If missing, the installer prompts you for permission to download and install the missing components, and the Core service is restarted during installation. If .NET is installed, the Core server requires you to reboot after installation.
Note: You must agree to the limited use of personally identifiable data in the Quest privacy policy, and your Rapid Recovery Core must be registered with a standard phone-home license, to connect your Core to the QorePortal.
To download and install the portal plug-in from the QorePortal, perform the following steps:
- Download the plug-in from the Quest QorePortal Systems page using the following steps.
- From the Quest QorePortal navigation menu, click Systems.
- If the Cores page appears, a list is displayed of all Rapid Recovery Cores recognized by the QorePortal. Skip to step d.
- If you see any other page, this means Cores or machines are selected. In the header, click
View all.
The Cores page under Systems appears. All Rapid Recovery Cores recognized by the QorePortal are displayed.
- View the status of each Core as described in the following table:

The Settings page displays. On the left side of the page, a navigation menu displays options related to QorePortal settings.
- From the left navigation menu, click Downloads.
The Downloads page appears.
- If required, scroll down the page until you reach the Plug-ins area.
- From the Portal Plug-in section, click Download.
The plug-in downloads to the browser's default location.
- From the Quest QorePortal navigation menu, click Settings.
- Double-click the installer binary file, and run the installer as instructed.
- Note the status of your Core on the QorePortal.
After plug-in installation and after any restart of the server or service (as described earlier), the QorePortal connects to your Core, and the Core uploads events to the portal. For this reason, based on the number of events uploaded, it may take as long as 10 minutes for the status of your Core to show as green (healthy and connected).
