Adding, changing, or removing a role

By default, QorePortal roles Owner and Administrator are granted all permissions, and role Reader can view the QorePortal but has no permissions to change systems, users, roles, or organizations.

If the default roles provided in the QorePortal do not suit the needs of your users, you can add a new role and customize its permissions. Following this procedure, you can also change the permissions assigned to an existing role.

Note: Permissions assigned to default roles or custom roles can be changed only by a user assigned the Roles permission.

To add a role and assign it permissions, or to change the permissions assigned to a role, complete the following steps:

  1. Under Settings, go to the Roles page.
  2.  To create a new role, do the following:
    1. Click Add role.

      The Add roles page displays.

    2. In the Role name text box, enter a name for the role you want to create.
    3. In the Permissions column, select each permission you want to grant to the new role. o one of the following:
      • Click Users.
        • Next to the search bar, above the list of users, click Invite User.
      • Click Organizations.
        • For each organization or subgroup, click the Actions menu icon More menu, and then select Invite user.
    4. Click Save.
  3. To remove an existing role from the QorePortal, do the following:
    1. From the Roles page under Settings, for the role you want to remove, click the Actions menu icon More menu, and then select Remove roleRemove.

      The Remove role dialog box appears.

    2. In the Remove role dialog box, click Remove Role to confirm your selection.
    3. Click Save.
  4. To modify the permissions of an existing role, do the following:
    1. From the Roles page under Settings, click the role you want to modify.

      The Edit Permissions page displays.

    2. Optionally, if you want to change the role name, enter the new name in the Role name text box.
    3. In the Permissions column, for each currently granted permission you want to remove. clear the corresponding option.
    4. In the Permissions column, for each permission not currently assigned to the role that you want to grant, select the corresponding option.
    5. When satisfied with your changes, click Save.

Your changes are applied for the selected roles in the portal.
